Our Strategic Priorities
School boards in Ontario are required to develop an overarching, high-level plan to help boards reach the goals of the Ministry of Education’s Achieving Excellence: A Renewed Vision for Education in Ontario, to foster public confidence in education, to create coherence and cohesion for the system, to ensure equity of access and opportunity for all students, and to provide opportunities for shared leadership and encourage a collective growth mindset.
Beginning in the 2016-2017 school year, the Limestone District School Board began to work on the development of a new strategic plan to replace its previous plan, Success For All – Strategic Directions, 2009-2016. This work included an extensive consultation process with stakeholders, review of the Board’s mission, vision and values, and an environmental scan to review current and anticipated internal and external factors that might impact the work of the Board.
Following the consultation process, Trustees renewed the Board’s vision and values statements before working with Senior Staff to review and identify priorities and map out possible directions. In November 2016, the Board released its new strategic pillars – Wellness, Innovation and Collaboration – and goals for each pillar. By promoting Wellness, Innovation, and Collaboration in Limestone, the Board will improve student achievement and well-being.
The Board continues to work on aligning the goals with a monitoring plan that will be presented to Trustees in a report format twice a year – in January and August. Because 2016-2017 was used to develop the new five-year strategic plan, monitoring reports will begin in August 2018 to reflect the previous months’ work. In the meantime, the Board is pleased to share its Year-End Report for the final year of Success For All – Strategic Directions, 2009-2016.
The Board is confident its new strategic plan will address the unique needs, strengths, and challenges of every student. We are excited to share our progress with you through our new strategic plan website.
