By the community for the community.
That’s the best way perhaps to describe a recent soup drive organized by students at Molly Brant Elementary School.
The idea for a Soup Drive was brought forth by students who attended the recent week-long Tim Horton Memorial Camp at the end of January. While at the camp, students worked together to decide upon various leadership initiatives they could do that would give back to their community.
Student leaders decided it would be nice if anyone who wanted to could pick up a can or two of soup at school so their family could enjoy a warm bowl of soup together over the Family Day weekend.
Soup was donated by students, staff and community groups. It was a heart-warming sight to see the grocery cart overflowing with soup and know that it was students looking out for other students that made it possible!
