Expanding Horizons is a program dedicated to providing staff and students opportunities to build capacity in arts education, by working alongside local artists as part of a collective creation cultivating “Equity of Hope”.
As part of Stage 1, expressions of interest are being collected from arts educators in Kingston, Frontenac, Lennox, and Addington to take part in the Limestone District School Board’s Equity Arts Initiative, Expanding Horizons: Sharing Stories, Spring 2022.
This initiative aims to provide learning opportunities for students to:
- share their own stories, connecting to and building community with those around them, using the arts as a form of expression;
- explore both equity-related topics and the creative process, through identity-affirming arts experiences;
- engage in meaningful interactions with professional artists/arts organizations.
In these arts series, students will be able to share their personal and collective stories, experiences, and perspectives in memorable and valuable ways. Not only will “Expanding Horizons” open opportunities for students to learn more about themselves, but they will also recognize how their work can have a positive, lasting impact on the communities around them.
